The Difference Between Ceramic Window Tint and Other Types of Tint

Solarwaves Blogger • Aug 30, 2022

If you're getting a window tint for your vehicle, you may be wondering about choosing a ceramic window tint or another type, so here's a list of differences.

ceramic window tint

Did you know that the first car was invented in 1886? Ever since then, people have been trying to find ways to protect their cars, especially their car windows. While all car windows come with a basic kind of tint, you likely know that such a basic tint doesn't accomplish much.

Ceramic window tint, on the other hand, is a different story. But what is a ceramic window tint exactly, you might ask? How does this premium film compare to regular types of window tint and is it really worth upgrading the tint on your vehicle?

Keep reading and learn more about ceramic window tint below.

What You Need to Know About Ceramic Window Tint

When it comes to protecting your car windows, you can't get much better protection than with ceramic vehicle window tinting. This kind of tint is much stronger than regular window tint for several different reasons. The first thing you should know is that there are several different types of ceramic window tints you can choose from.

Some are more aesthetic and don't provide much protection. On the other hand, others are extremely protective and are very good at protecting against the sun's rays. You might think that ceramic tint would be hard to see through since it is so good at blocking the sun's rays and other factors.

However, you will be surprised to know that most ceramic window tints are actually very clear, perhaps even clearer than regular window tints. The main benefit of ceramic window tints is that most of them are designed to block out 99.99% of the sun's UV rays. The sun's rays are bad for your car for a variety of reasons.

For one, these UV rays are very powerful and they can actually damage different substances on a molecular level. This is because UV rays have the ability to break molecular bonds. This can cause the color of your car seats to fade along with your dashboard and other things.

The Details

Of course, if you care about your car, the last thing you want is to have the interior of your car become faded due to sun damage. Ceramic window tints can solve this problem. It can also solve the problem of your car getting too hot, especially in the summer.

If you leave your car out in the sun, the inside will inevitably get quite warm. This is because of how the sun shines inside through the windows. But if you block the windows with ceramic window tint, you won't have to deal with this problem.

While your car will still warm up to a certain degree, it won't get nearly as hot as it would with a regular window tint. So, not only will you be protecting your car with this kind of tint, but the inside of your car will also be more comfortable and your car will look far more stylish. What else could you want from a window tint?

Ceramic Tint vs Regular Tint

The first thing you should know about regular tint in comparison to ceramic tint is that the abilities of regular tint are quite limited. Regular window tints usually are only scratch-resistant. So, if a branch or another object happens to scrape by your windows, there won't be any scratches left behind.

However, beyond its scratch-resistant abilities, regular window tint isn't all that great. In fact, it is particularly bad if you live in a hot climate since regular tint will make your windows heat up far more compared to ceramic window tint. It also is incapable of blocking any of the sun's UV rays.

So, the sun could easily bleach the inside of your car and it could even give you a sunburn while you're still in the car if you're not careful. The only downside that ceramic window tint has is that it is a premium tint and therefore quite expensive. When it comes to the cost of ceramic tinting, you might end up paying several hundred dollars, if not a thousand or more, to tint all of your car's windows.

What You Need to Know

While this is more expensive compared to regular window tint, you shouldn't let the price deter you. Keep in mind that ceramic window tint is much like a long-term investment. This kind of tint is very durable and is made of microscopic ceramic particles that can protect your car better than any regular tint.

Ceramic tints usually last for many years and, as such, they can protect your car's interior and windows for many years to come. This is unlike regular window tints which provide only minimal protection and certainly won't keep your car in good shape over the years. So, even though a ceramic tint is expensive up front, the price isn't actually all that much when you look at it over the years.

Ceramic tint is also easy to get. All you have to do is go to the professionals and they'll put on the tint for you. While you can technically apply the tint on your own, it is always a better idea to let professionals do it for you since they are far more skilled.

All About Ceramic Window Tint

If you want to take care of your car, getting a ceramic window tint may be the best option. This kind of tint is perfect for blocking out the sun's rays and keeping your car at a comfortable temperature. Even though ceramic window tint is more expensive than regular tint, it will last you far longer and provide much more protection.
